Lowell Richardson, pictured in the front row, and Edith Hockey Royal, Dianna Appleby Lowe and Lester Evans, pictured left to right in the second row, were four of the five Wall of Honor recipients for 2017. The fifth recipient, Martha Hyer Harrison, died in 1891.

Spectators and family members gathered at the Cowan Civic Center Thursday for a banquet and ceremony recognizing five people whose names will be added to Lebanon’s Wall of Honor.

Educators Lowell Richardson and Edith Royal, local dairy farmer and former presiding commissionier Lester Evans, Lowe Boats cofounder Dianna Appleby Lowe and early Lebanon resident Martha Hyer Harrison will join the other Community Achievement Award recipients whose names are displayed in the Civic Center’s lobby.

According to the program for the event, the Lebanon Area Chamber of Commerce formed its Wall of Honor Committee in 2000. The committee’s purpose is to host an annual event recognizing people whose lives and careers “have had a major beneficial impact on the Laclede County area.”
