Police make arrest in Williams murder

Lebanon Police have arrested a suspect in the Dec. 10 murder of Laquita Williams of Lebanon.
Police said 25-year-old Kevin R. Kayden was arrested and charged with felony murder, first degree and armed criminal action. His bond was set at $500,000.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 10,  the Lebanon Police Department responded to the 300 block of North Street in Lebanon for an unresponsive person inside a residence. Once officers arrived on scene the victim was immediately identified as Laquita Williams. Williams’ arms had been bound behind her back, with a cord around her neck, and her throat had been cut, police said in a press release. Police said a later autopsy of Williams’ body confirmed that her cause of death was likely due to the left carotid artery being severed and the esophagus lacerated.
Kevin Kayden became a person of interest in this investigation, according to police, because of ongoing domestic abuse issues between the two. Further investigative leads over the course of this investigation,  including crime laboratory testing, led to the charges against Kayden for the murder of Williams, police said.
