The Lebanon R-3 School Board voted 5-0 at its meeting Tuesday to seek bids for razing the Wallace and Rainey Buildings at the old Lebanon Junior High School campus.
Over the past three years, district leaders have explored options for the future of the buildings on the old Lebanon Junior High campus.  Some private entities have pursued the purchase of the property, but several factors have created barriers to both the funding of a purchase and the development of usable spaces.
“The district has received a few inquiries in the property for such purposes as senior citizen apartments, church facilities, and a non-profit organization center. However, none of these have come to fruition due primarily to the tremendous costs associated with renovating the buildings,”Assistant Superintendent Dr. Brad Armstrong said at a recent forum on the buildings.
