Lebanon officially a tree city

The City of Lebanon celebrated Arbor Day Friday by accepting the designation of Tree City USA  in a ceremony at Gasconade Park.
Lisa Allen, state forester with the Missouri Department of Conservation, presented Mayor Jared Carr with the award.
Mayor Carr recognized the Lebanon Rotary Club for partnering with the city on this project.
“I grew up with my dad being in Rotary and going to events and just seeing what can happen when the community works together to make this a better place to live,” Carr said. “Getting this Tree City designation is a great honor for the community.”
The Tree City USA program has been offered in the United States since 1976 and is now in more than 3,400 communities, Carr said.
