Lebanon man stabbed in fight

A Lebanon man was stabbed in the neck last night in the 1500 block of Tower Road, according to Lebanon Police.

The wound was not life-threatening, police said. Officers were called at about 7:45 p.m. last night (Tuesday) for a disturbance involving a knife. Police said a 33-year-old Lebanon man was stabbed during the altercation by a 41-year-old  Jefferson City man.  The police report said he went to the hospital for treatment before officers arrived.

The other man told police the altercation started because the man appeared to be intoxicated and brandished a knife on him. According to the police report, “A wrestling match ensued where the knife disappeared and the fight ended."

The man who was stabbed told police,  "it was just country boys working things out" and said he had a knife on him but he never brandished a knife or any other weapon, police said. The wound was non-life-threatening  and both parties refused to prosecute.

During the course of the investigation officer had located a handgun in the bushes belonging to the Jefferson City man, who told them “he put it there because he didn't want to get in trouble. It is uncertain whether the weapon was on the (man's) person during the altercation, but was not brandished to our knowledge. The handgun was seized by officers,” the report said.

It was later determined that the handgun had had two different serial numbers on it, one on the slide, which appeared to be reported stolen. A probable cause statement was sent on the man for being in possession of the stolen property and putting the weapon were it was accessible to the public, police said.
