Jurors at Matt Rumbaugh’s double murder trial Monday were riveted by a three-hour video interview in which he discusses the murders of Chad and Riley Gerber in 2014.

Rumbaugh is on trial in Camden County this week on a change of venue from Laclede County.   Rumbaugh, 65, of Mountain Grove,  was the owner of Matt’s Garage in Lebanon. He is charged in the 2014 shooting deaths of 35-year-old Chad Gerber and 15-year-old Riley Gerber.

Chad Gerber was found dead and and his son was found suffering a gunshot wound in the early morning hours of July 8, 2014, in their Atlanta Road home. Riley Gerber died a few days later at a Springfield hospital. Jennifer Gerber, Chad Gerber’s wife, later told deputies that Rumbaugh had allegedly forced his way into their home and shot both her husband and stepson.

Robert Finley, a former Laclede County Sheriff’s investigator, said a deputy told them Rumbaugh was identified as a suspect by witnesses at the Gerber house.
