It was Christmas in October for 55 employees from Laclede Industries who went on a shopping trip at Walmart Wednesday.
The visit was part of First State Community Bank Gives Back Month in October and the bank’s Impact Initiative.
Each person got to spend $50 in any manner they chose, food, clothing or other needs.
“Most of these people are on fixed incomes and they don’t ever get to just splurge with $50,” said Merri Hess, FSCB marketing officer.
Laclede Industries provides dignified employment for individuals who are unable to obtain competitive employment in the community because of physical, mental or cognitive disabilities.  Services provided include recycling, packaging and assembly, mobile work crews and document destruction.
