Former teacher sentenced to 8 years


A former Joel E. Barber teacher was sentenced in federal court Wednesday for receiving and distributing child pornography over the Internet.
Brandon Hileman, 26, of Lebanon, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge M. Douglas Harpool to eight years in federal prison without parole, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri.
Hileman, formerly a junior high math teacher at Joel E. Barber pleaded guilty on Nov. 14, 2018. Hileman admitted that he received child pornography over the Internet between Jan. 1 and Sept. 29, 2017.
Hileman was a teacher at the time the pornography was downloaded. He was placed on leave from Joel E. Barber at the time of the investigation and was later dismissed from employment with the school district.
