Lebanon City Fire Department aided by Lebanon Rural extinguished a fire at 725 West Bland in Lebanon Monday night.
Crews were dispatched just before 7 p.m. They arrived and observed fire on the exterior of the building, which they quickly extinguished.
“Upon further investigation we found that the fire had actually originated inside the building and extended out through a makeshift wall,” Lebanon City Fire Chief Sam Schneider said.
Schneider said a man was in the building at the time of the fire and tried unsuccessfully to extinguish the blaze.
According to Schneider, the man had noticed embers escaping the shop’s wood stove. He had also spilled diesel in the shop earlier in the day.
