More than $40K in boat motors reported stolen

From LDR Staff

More than $40,000 worth of boat motors were reported stolen from a Laclede County property.

At about 11:29 a.m. Wednesday, a Laclede County Sheriff's Office deputy was dispatched to the 31000 block of Missouri 5 where the theft had been reported.

A 47-year-old Camdenton man told the deputy that he had gone to his shop Wednesday and found that the out drives from three boats were missing. Two of the boats belong to the man and one other belongs to a customer he was doing repairs for. The man estimated the value of the three motors at $42,000, according to the LCSO incident report.

The man told the deputy that the manner in which the boat parts were removed made it appear as though the person was going to reuse or sell the parts. The drives had been unbolted rather than cut off, the report said.
