Ila Mae Venable

Ila Mae Venable, 89, of Lebanon, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 in Lebanon.

She was born Jan. 30, 1923 in Wright County, Mo. to Omar and Mae Chambers Young.

On Oct. 10, 1945 she married Garland Venable, who preceded her in death in January of 2007.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Ruby Davis, Elizabeth Gourley, and Kathleen Bramhall; a grandson, Johnny Jennings, and four brothers-in-law, Doyle Royster, Sam Headley, James Amos, and Wilford Venable.

She was a nurse’s aid and desk clerk at Breech Medical Center for many years. After leaving the hospital, she was employed as a caregiver for many local families through the years.

She joined New Home Church in Wright County, but recently attended the First Assembly of God as long her health allowed.

Survivors include a son, Gary Venable, of Lebanon; a daughter, Ann Jennings, of Lebanon; three brothers, Russell Young and his wife, Imogene, of St. Louis; Tom Young and his wife, Wanda, of Hartville and John Young and his wife, Carol, of St. Charles; three sisters, Alice Royster, of California; Alma Headley, of Richland, and Sally Amos, of Lebanon; six grandchildren, Tina, Natalie and Doug Venable, Amber Cogdill, Andrea Clayton, and Michael Jennings; 11 great-grandchildren, Athena Morgan, Tiffani, Kolton, Payton, Mason, Olivia, Lindsey, Christian, Cory and Lucas; a sister-in-law, Nancy Venable, of Florrisant, also other relatives.

Funeral services for Ila Mae Venable will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.

Burial will be at New Home Cemetery in Wright County, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.

Memorials have been suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and donations can be left at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
