SGM (Ret) David Ray Clark, 86, of Waynesville, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at his home.

He was a retired United States Army Sergeant Major.

Survivors include his son, Stephen Clark, of Hallsville; three sisters, June Piercefield, of Arnold; Eleanor Walsh, of Florissant, and Shirley St. Gemme, of Deslodge; a brother, James Clark, of Bonne Terre; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.


Hartzler speaks at Rotary Lawmaker says she continues the fight against 'tricks' in Washington D.C.

In the spirit of Halloween, U.S. Rep. Vicky Hartzler spoke to some of constituents Thursday about her efforts to change what she called political tricks into treats.


Peggy Joyce (Wilson) Wilham, 80, of Edinburg, Ill., formerly of Eldridge, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, in the Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville, Ill.

She was born June 13, 1933, in a little log cabin outside Eldridge, Mo., the oldest of seven children of William Robert and Lydia Opal Mabel (Dorbecker) Wilson.

On March 17, 1951, she married Glenn Walton Grove, and to that union six children were born. He preceded her in death. On June 7, 1997, she married Melvin “Willy’’ Wilham at the Carondelet United Church of Christ in St. Louis.

Fundraising auction set for Saturday Proceeds to benefit local 4-H programs, clubs

The Laclede County 4-H Council is gearing up for its first ever fundraising auction, which is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Laclede County Fairgrounds.

Youth Specialist Sam Lower told The Daily Record today that numerous items are flowing in for the auction, which will raise funds to support projects and program for local 4-H Clubs and the Laclede County 4-H Council.


Harold Lane Hightower, 72, of Grovespring, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 30, 2013, at Mercy Hospital Springfield.

He is survived by two brothers, Noel Hightower, of Lebanon, and Russell Hightower, of Kansas City; a sister, Charlene Barclay, of Lebanon; a number of nieces and nephews, also other relatives and friends.

Graveside services and burial for Harold Lane Hightower will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, in the Shaddy Cemetery, south of Grovespring with full military honors, under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville.

'Falling' man charged with felony burglary

Apparently the Lebanon Police Department and Laclede County Prosecuting Attorney’s office did not believe a man who said he had fallen through a roof to end up inside a locked building, as he now faces a felony burglary charge.

Joshua Jay Ishman, 24, of Lebanon, is charged with a class C felony of burglary in the second degree. Ishman is in custody at the Laclede County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash-or-surety bond.
