State lawmakers make official 'call' on county officeholders Parson, Crawford, Franklin emphasize their accessibility to local officials

Before Laclede County’s elected state lawmakers switch gears and go into full legislator mode for the upcoming session, Sen. Mike Parson and representatives Sandy Crawford and Diane Franklin paid a visit to the Laclede County Commission.

Okla. man allegedly enticed local boy FBI, Highway Patrol arrest Tulsa doctor in sting at hotel in Springfield Saturday

A Tulsa, Okla., doctor is in federal custody after allegedly planning to meet a 16-year-old Laclede County boy for sex Saturday at a Springfield hotel.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol investigator and an FBI agent showed up at the rendezvous instead.

Shelby Coleman, 36, of Tulsa, was charged Monday with using a minor to produce child pornography in a federal criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court in Springfield.

Coleman is a medical doctor and partner of Tulsa Women’s Health Center.


Conrad Lee Austin, 77, of Phillipsburg, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 in Strafford.

He was born Jan. 13, 1936 in Lebanon, Mo. to Bert and Letha Conn Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bert, Jr.

On March 29, 1959 he married Carolyn Wrinkle.

He was a mechanic and operated a crane and other heavy equipment. He also served our country in the United States Navy for eight years.


Robert Duane Kjorvestad, Sr., 80, of Waynesville, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 in the Dixon Nursing and Rehab Center of Dixon.

He is survived by his children, Judy Barton, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; CPT (Ret) Robert Kjorvestad, Jr. and wife, Janice, of Ogden, Utah; Don Kjorvestad, of Laquey; Kenneth “Pete’’ Kjorvestad and wife, Melissa, of Springfield, and Jim Kjorvestad and wife, Cheri, of Laquey; a sister, Theresa Jarombek, of Kansas City; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, also other relatives and friends.

Mayor plans new Christmas festivities Anderson invites public to meeting today to discuss tree-lighting, night parade

It's not even Halloween, but Lebanon Mayor Lyle Anderson is hoping to get local residents into the Christmas spirit.

Anderson announced Monday that the city will be planting a 15-foot tall white pine tree at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in front of the Kenneth E. Cowan Civic Center that will become the Community Christmas Tree and be lit in a special ceremony on Dec. 3.

Patricia Marie Rose Scott, 69, of Lebanon, died Monday afternoon, Sept. 30, 2013 at Mercy Hospital Lebanon.

She is survived by her mother, Anastasia Hazel Scott, of Lebanon; an aunt, Mary Utt, of Aurora, Colo.; and a number of cousins.

Eileen Gardner, 63, of Conway, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 in Springfield.

She was born June 5, 1950 in Warrensburg, Mo. to James Wesley and Marjorie Coen Gardner.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother-in-law, Dr. Dennis Oberle.

She processed claims for an accounting firm. She also did editing for Guttenburg Press and various authors.
